Chasing Slow
Chasing Slow is about turning away from the fast and the frenzy. It’s about refraining from the race to be “there.” In our lives, we have probably been programmed to go after the following:
·
The big house, car or next big purchase to give us the impression
of status and recognition
·
THE relationship – finding the person that will
take us away and give us a life of happiness, pleasure and security.
·
And a big one, chasing after the perfect
physical look, slimmer body, everlasting youth and larger
muscles.
Yet, we hear it in the news that even the most celebrated individuals
succumb to depression and suicide. When
we constantly chase the “dream,” they never really deliver lasting happiness
and we end up feeling unsatisfied. I say choose to shift your priorities and spend your days connecting and caring,
not consuming and competing. After
growing up in the household where my grandma saved all the meat foam trays and
plastic grocery bags, and mom’s obsession to collect shoes, decors, bags and
countless pots & pans, I literally heave and feel overwhelming heavy. For me, I want to be minimalistic. I want less to experience more creativity, calmness and peace. When you choose to end the race, you too will begin to see that you already have everything you need! Find contentment by lessening
your expectations about people, and turn off the judgments in your head. Tell
yourself that you are enough. You are already
abundantly blessed!
