Creating Supportive Environments for Your Home!
It was fun helping a client de-clutter and re-decorate her home! With a household of seven - four adults, two teenagers and an 8 year old (including two birds) - as much as she embraced simplicity, clutter easily worked its way in.

Let's take a look at the family room:
PROBLEM: This space had fallen into a melange of entertainment media and random displays set against a rather dull and incongruent backdrop. It lacked a sense of warmth...a feeling projected throughout the rest of the house, giving my client a feeling of drab and unrest most of the time. Tired of looking at the disarray of items, she decided it was time to create a supportive environment to bring the family together in a more functional, yet stylist sort of way....
SOLUTION: We began by condensing all the dvd's & cd's in one place and tuck them away in a ottoman that doubled up as a bench and storage area. Out went all the extraneous items. Speakers were tucked neatly behind the sofas and fireplace, and wires were bound and tied inconspicuously....the way they should be!
The fun part - Enhancing the warmth of the room with coordinated pillows, a throw and candles. The look was fresh, inviting and most of all, cozy! The transformation was instantaneous. All we needed to complete the room were coasters for the coffee table and an area rug to really tie in the colors and warm up the hardwood floors. In my next entry, I'll show you the kid's room, followed by the kitchen. Simple, yet functional, just a few changes here and there and you get effective results!
