The Way You Live Every Day
In creating a home where children and parents can work, relax and play, Kerri Molinar, President of IKEA Canada wrote, "The way you live everyday. That's what should decide your home. A functional, welcoming kitchen for weeknight dinners and late-night talks. A comfortable living room that invites everyone to stretch out and tune out. And when all the activity is done, a peaceful bedroom where you can shut the door and re-charge."

Think about it. Each room has it's own purpose. Now what elements should be included (or not included) in each room to
give it that character. If your bedroom includes your mails, work materials and/or video games, how does that translate to becoming a "peaceful bedroom" when you're being reminded of bills, things to get done at the office or stimulating your mind to be entertained? That doesn't constitute a restful environment. A bedroom should be soothing to the heart & mind, spa-like with soft lighting and aroma scented candles for 24-hour comfort.
Now walk through your entire home and take a look in each room. Eliminate all 'non-essentials' leaving only the elements that enhance the functionality of that space. In the end, you'll have a home that truly works for you.
